Sanctuary LAX Los Angeles Sex Club Review

INTRODUCTION:

BDSM can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, and for many years I assumed that because I had a paddle and a fuzzy pair of handcuffs that I would introduce to my partner with more of a laugh than anything else, I was participating in BDSM community. And technically yes, I was, at the barest minimum along the spectrum. It was only after wading deeper into the waters of the fetish community did I realize how much more of a lifestyle this was, and not just a silly thing to spice up the bedroom with.

If you're living in Los Angeles, it seems like you already have a leg up on the rest of the world when it comes to living in a community that embraces every aspect of the hedonistic lifestyle. Sure, you can learn and watch a lot on the internet for any sort of hot scene or fantasy that excites you, but when it comes to a hands on experience, there's no better places to exorcise/embrace your sexual demons than in the city of angels. I am extremely thankfully that it was at Sanctuary LAX where my eyes were opened, because it was thanks to there amazing staff of dominatrixes and a really excellent play space that I learned that BDSM can be an integral part of your sexual identity.

ABOUT:

Sanctuary LAX is the largest BDSM play space in Los Angeles, and their roster of dominatrixes (or doms, for short) is extensive. This means that as soon as you step the through the doors, you are in good hands, no matter what you want those hands to do to you. Fortunately, they are very welcoming to all new-comers and those who are just a wee bit curious at the world of fetishes and kinks. They offer many introductory classes where being handcuffed to a strange piece of erotic furniture is not part of syllabus. Simply taking a tour of the many different play rooms is one of the best ways to feel much more relaxed about the experiences you can have here. And if you like what you see and hear, it's very easy to book a session, where it really is a one-on-one scene where you are led by the nose (and everything else) by your new master (don't worry, there is always a safe word).

Then of course there are the weekend parties, where fans and veterans come from all over the city to have an incredible night of fun and safe (and a little bit crazy) play, sometimes revolving around the theme of rope, stripping, and dungeon. There's even some BDSM-decorated guest rooms for sleeping, as I was told that with the space's proximity to the airport, some travellers who are in town for business and enjoy the BDSM lifestyle would sometimes stay here rather than at a hotel.

-easily accessible location near the I-405/I-105 interchange, near Los Angeles International Airport

CONCLUSION:

Easily one of the best places to get your feet in the world of BDSM, Sanctuary LAX has everything you could and want or need to safely find out if the wide world of kink is right for you. And because they offer some many other events and private sessions once you're finished with your classes, it becomes very easy to become a regular attendee.

It might sound a bit cheesy about how everything in your life is a journey, but i found this to be particularly true for me when I first started coming here, really unsure of myself. I was wondering whether these feelings I had about dominance and submission were something that could be properly and safely brought out of me. And over the last year or so, it was a wonderful (and wonderfully fun) learning experience here at Sanctuary LAX. It may not be exactly what you're looking for in a sex club, but it is definitely the best path into the BDSM world.

Pros
  • Top to bottom, Sanctuary LAX is one of the best play spaces in the city, and they have an incredible staff of doms to match. This means that if you come to one of the amazing weekend events, it'll never be too packed and that there will always be a really cool scene or play scenario that you can watch (and maybe take part of). It also makes it easy to always be able to book an appointment for a one-on-one session throughout the week (and with so many doms, you can definitely find the one that is the best fit for you and your fantasies).

Not having to become a member certainly takes a lot of the pressure off, but the fact that it's completely free to become one meant that after I had a really great time during the introductory class, I quickly did so. Being able to learn more about the staff through the website was very helpful, and when you start to book sessions and attend events, it's great to get the membership discount.

The weekend events are always a lot of fun, because with so many people there, you never feel obligated to 'get into your role' like you have to at a one-on-one session. It's a lot easier to relax and watch other people play. And I have to mention that I do like the event title 'The Cham-Pain room' (and it's great that some of the money raised through events like this one will go to local charities, like children's hospitals and LGBTQ groups)

Cons
  • While this is not so much a con, it is certainly important that novices understand that while BDSM can be incredibly sexy and arousing, there is practically never any typical sexual contact as part of any play session. That means there's no penetration, nor any oral-genital contact. In fact, an oft-repeated line both on the website and in classes is that, 'if you want sex, get a prostitute'.

The more practical concern for some people might be that because this place is one of the top BDSM locations in the city, it can rather expensive. One on one sessions start at $200 per hour, and adding certain features can increase that price. Many of the classes are much more affordable, which is appreciated, but these are designed to educate, not titillate.
