Unit 2 Sauna is definitely not overly glamorous. Don't get me wrong: it's super clean, very safe and discreet, and above all has great members. However, it's definitely not winning any awards for production design if you know what I mean.

I always try to go into every sex club experience with an open mind and I did the same for Unit 2 Sauna. And of course I had the time of my life and now I'm a regular member there. I still do like my fancy bathhouses, of course, but Unit 2 Sauna still has a lot to offer without being extra luxurious.

When you first enter, you are greeted by a cheerful reception area, which is where you pay for a membership and can grab things like a towel, water, or extra condoms.

The active areas of the club are separated by a large communal change room. There are plenty of lockers so even on a busy night you don't have to worry about that. The active part of the bathhouse consist of sauna and steam and jacuzzi rooms in multiple sizes, a few relaxation rooms, TV rooms, and some private fetish rooms. So no matter what kinky itch you need to scratch, you can get it done at Unit 2 Sauna and then some.

Like most bathhouses, in order to access all of the goods you need to be a member. Memberships are super reasonable and there are a lot of extra perks once you become a member. If you are thinking about becoming a member you can purchase a day pass but they are limited and only good for certain times. However, it is the perfect way to get a good sense of what the bathhouse is all about or to see if it's really a good fit for you.

Unit 2 Sauna might not have a fancy indoor pool but it has great hours of operation, is always clean, and always full of members looking to have a good time.

- A secure communal locker room with hundreds of lockers. You bring your own lock. Lockers are meant for daily use but if you are interested in booking one long term you can speak to management.

- The sauna and steam rooms and sauna rooms vary in size depending on what your interests are. The smallest steam room seats two or three comfortably and the largest seats about 15. I've definitely had a great time in both sizes of room.

- The jacuzzi rooms are a lot of fun. The smallest room fits a four person jacuzzi and the biggest room has an 8 person jacuzzi. These rooms fill up fast so get there early.

- If you're wanting to dry off, there are multiple relaxation and TV rooms. Here you can cool off, lounge around, and even watch some porn.

- Cash only, no debit or credit cards accepted.

- There are some light snacks and beverages on site but for full meals you would have to leave the premises.

- In the summer there is a private back patio that is perfect for sunning on... well, when the sun is out, at least!

- Every week there are multiple speciality nights, including Bear night, Dare2Bare, Fetish Night, Wicked Wednesdays, and so much more.

- When members refer a friend, they get a free gift basket that includes condoms and lube.

Unit 2 Sauna is a staple of the Birmingham gay scene. Any self respecting gay man is a member or at least visits on a regular basis. So you could say that this bathhouse is sort of famous! That's why I think it is definitely worth visiting even at least once. You have to check out that history.

What keeps me going back time and time again to this particular bathhouse is the members. Nearly all of my friends frequent this bathhouse and there are also my fave regulars that I can count on for a really good time. Even better: because of the prime location and prestigious word-of-mouth status, there are also always visitors and tourists. So if you want a bathhouse experience with a total stranger, it's pretty easy to have that kinky encounter at Unit 2 Sauna.

Unit 2 Sauna has great operating hours for a bathhouse: it's always open! Yes, you read that right. It's always open.
