The Joy of Houston understands all this, and they make sure this vibe is felt during your whole evening inside their establishment.

To describe the Joy of Houston is a bit odd, because it feels just like a strip club you see in any movie, except for the crazy over the top ones in Vegas. And that definitely goes a long way to creating a really relaxed atmosphere, because sometimes you'll step into a new place and you're a bit edgy and nervous because you don't know about the other people there, or whether the dancers are going to be really pushy, or what the ordering is going to be like. But Joy of Houston is really simple. A big main room, TVs on the walls, a small DJ booth, and a stage that comes out into the audience. Faux-roman columns at least shows some effort in making the place look a bit fancier, but it's pretty clear that they'd rather save you money by not spending a ton of money on some renovations that most people are going to walk by and immediately forget, anyway.

You can go up to the bar, but there's also table service, although it's the sort of strip club where if you're constantly wondering when your drink order is going to arrive, then you did it wrong by not ordering enough drinks the first time the waitress came by. Even when Joy of Houston is busy, it's still not hectic, and it's no problem to leave your seat to use the bathroom and come back to find it still empty. You can even tell that some people come here just to watch sports, and that the hot ladies are more of a side dish, not the main course.

The best thing to compare the Joy of Houston to is a pair of well-worn jeans with made a tear or two on one of the knees. It's not your best, you can't wear it to anything fancy (probably not to the Joy of Houston, actually), but it's familiar, comfortable, and it's all you want to put on after a long day. This club is a lot like that, and it's great the all the dancers and workers here aren't trying to be people or a place that they're not.

If you want to see some fun, approachable women get naked onstage who then walk around the club saying hi, this is your place. If you want to just settle down and slowly drain a couple bottles of beer with some buddies while watching the game and maybe order some nachos (always a safer bet from a strip club menu), this is your place. If you just want to escape the hustle and bustle of Houston for awhile and have a easy night out, then this place is a joy.
