Brooklyn Red Productions NYC Sex Club Review

INTRODUCTION:

The biggest city in the country throws the biggest parties in the country. Whether you live in New York City, or just travelling here for the weekend, it feels like you can't walk three steps without stumbling into a place where the music is banging and the people inside are also banging. Open relationships might have had their start back in the nineteen sixties, but if you grew up in the rave culture of the eighties and nineties, you know that if were these giant warehouse parties where absolutely anything went, including peoples inhibitions and clothes.

Brooklyn Red Productions wants to keep the 'club' in 'sex club', and it also wants to make it a safe party space for those who have been marginalized for too long not only in the swinger community, but general society until rather recently. With that mind, these events focus exclusively on letting the women and trans community have a place to play and explore while dancing to the music of live DJs.

ABOUT:

Brooklyn Red Productions sounds like it could just be a film company, but it is mostly certainly one of the most erotically-charged and energetic parties in the city. Its gender policy alone makes it quite exclusive, as only women and men who identify as trans are welcome. And while this might seem elitist at first, it makes sense considering how long both these groups have been marginalized not only in general society, but in the swinging community as well, which still focuses on heteronormative play.

The organizers of Brooklyn Red Productions wanted to create a safe play space for these two groups, and it's become a regular event that's not just about dancing the night away (although it's easy to do with several big name DJs spinning beats at the party), but a whole lot of sex as well. Most sex clubs have a small dance floor, a bar area, and then some private rooms and lounge areas in the back where hotter moments can go down. The Brooklyn Red parties (usually called 'Submit') blow all this out of the water simply because of the amount of space they have to use. A great dance floor, and incredible amount of play areas, all stocked with some very erotic and kink gear for you to use. Whether you want some simple couch or beds, or want to get a bit wet with play tubs or group showers, or want to get some pleasure through pain with their flogging stations and spanking benches, there will be no kink left unturned, no moan left inside the body once closing time finally comes.

The organizers are also well aware of the practical challenges of living in New York City, especially as people who might have more challenges than others. Being an expensive place to live, Brooklyn Red Productions offers free admission to people who volunteer here, as well as having a kitschy sort of offer, where if you bring them old porn DVDS (of the trans or BDSM sort), that can be your ticket in.

CONCLUSION:

It's hard to put hedonism in a bottle, but Brooklyn Red Productions have managed to do it. It already gets a lot of points for embracing two groups of people who have been long overdue for having their own parties and celebrations (women and trans folk), but it gets even more points for putting on a party that is reaches for and meets such great heights. Whether you want to dance the night away, or head right to the orgy rooms, this party has you covered.

In New York City, everyone needs a chance to blow off a little steam, and for women or trans, Brooklyn Red Productions guarantees that once a month, you will have the opportunity of a lifetime to do so.

Pros
  • While many sex clubs and parties try to section off where and when things are allowed to happen within the venue, Brooklyn Red Productions throws all that out the window, and embrace the idea that you can come right out in the open and start having some dirty fun anywhere you want once you're inside (although common sense will tell you to do nothing but dance on the dance floor, or you might accidentally get stepped on). I was amazed at how they've been able to combine rave culture and BDSM so well. Not that the two have to be intertwined, or that everyone who is into one is definitely into the other, but at these 'Submit' parties, they seemed to have struck a perfect balance. When you don't want to dance anymore, it so easy to quickly move toward a much more erotic blur of flesh, whether it's on a bed or in a wet play tub.

The organizers also get that sex clubs and the swinging lifestyle can be expensive. And while $15-$20 is already a reasonable price to get inside (compared to other places in town), they offer free admission is you're willing to volunteer, either for the beginning of an event, and you can go 'play' once your shift is done. Or you volunteer at one event and can attend the next for free. On top of this, if you bring a women, trans, or queer porn DVD for donation, that can be your admission as well. It's a great example of the community looking for each other, because New York can be expensive enough, but there is still discrimination and unequal pay throughout, and it shouldn't cost an arm and leg to go out and have fun.

Cons
  • While it's not exactly a con, but simply, the rule of the event, but straight and gay men are not allowed at these events, as it is felt that both those groups have their own swinging clubs that cater directly to them (namely, regular sex clubs and bathhouses, which can be found across the city).

It should also be mentioned that this is a hard party to just kick back and relax in. Even by other sex club standards, the music is loud, the energy is crazy, and if you're not dancing like mad on the dance floor, or moaning like mad on a bed or piece of sex furniture, you might feel very out of place.

While BYOB is a great way to save money for yourself (and keep people from getting too drunk), you might find some people getting into some drugs during the event, but as long as you keep your wits about you and don't make any snap decisions, it shouldn't negatively affect your experience here at all.
