FemaleFirst.co.uk Niche Dating Forum Review

INTRODUCTION:

When it comes to sex and dating advice, I'd always relied on my girlfriends for the longest time. It make the most sense because they knew me better than anyone. But then there's some things about yourself that you might not want to share with anyone who knows you (usually something that involves some kinky bedroom fantasies), and that's what the internet is typically for.

Unfortunately, I've found that a lot of forums and message boards that deal with sex out there have a very male-centric audience. And while that means I get quite a lot of attention there when they see on my profile that i'm a woman, I feel like I'm not going to get much help from another female's perspective. So I actually talked to a friend of mine about not being able to find much help online, and that made all the difference because she mentioned the website FemaleFirst.co.uk. Like it's name suggests, it take a women-centric focus to all sorts of issues, including sex and relationships.

ABOUT:

FemaleFirst.co.uk is a huge news and culture website - a bit like buzzfeed, actually - that looked at everything from the position of what a modern woman would want to read about. Right along the top of the main page, the sections range from entertainment to relationships to news to fashion. Also up there is the link to the discussion board, which is a massive relationship forum, with almost one hundred thousand unique members. And that number makes all the difference, because it means all the sub-forums here are going to be very busy, because there's always thousands of people online, commenting and chatting about everything under the sun (from movies to weather to politics).

This means that sex and dating (and hooking up) are not exactly the focus on this site, but with so many people using it, those sub-forums certainly get a lot of attention as well. They're great places to go to read up on what other people might be trying in bed, or how successful they are on dates or in relationships (and things aren't going well, it's a good place to get helpful, practical advice). Wanting to discuss my kink, I decided to register, which was free, and required me to create a profile for myself, where I could mention as much or as little about myself as I wanted.

There were already posts in the 'bedroom chat' sub-forum about fetishes, but I still created my own thread, and it wasn't long before I got replies in there, all chiming in from other members saying they felt the exact same way, and we all started sharing a lot more. It was a great experience, and now I visit this forum frequently to talk about what turns me on.

FEATURES:

-the forum is a large part of a general website that is full of articles and news that takes a female perspective of everything

-almost one hundred thousand members, so you can definitely find people who have common interests

-completely free to sign up, which you need to do in order to post in threads as well as make your own topics

-checking out the profiles of other members is a great way to see who has the same interests as you, and it's easy to send them a private direct message (DM) if you want to chat outside of the public threads

-sex and dating advice is just the tip of the iceberg on this forum, as there are so many other topics, ranging from gaming to politics to beauty products to dreams

-even beyond the message board, there are a lot of great articles on the site that you can peruse and read

-the entire community of women on this site makes for a great support group, as you can make online friendships that can blossom into face-to-face ones

-search bar is always in the upper right hand corner, so it's easy to quickly find exactly what you're looking for

-if you have any concerns or issues with the forum, the Frequently Asked Questions page can always be useful

-the 'stupid zone' sub-forum is a very amusing section with bizarre topics, ranging from random online gifs to questions about peeing in public

CONCLUSION:

When you decide to check out FemaleFirst.co.uk, the name alone will tell you that this is primarily a place for women to discuss absolutely anything, and while this definitely includes some really exciting talk about sexual fantasies, it really does go far beyond that. With so many people on this forum, it quickly feels a lot more like a community than just a random collection of individuals, and it's easy to both get and give support when you or another member is going through a hard time that can't be explained to friends or family.

FemaleFirst.co.uk is an extremely easy site to use, and is completely worth the price of free. Hooking up for sex might not always be on the menu on this site, but hooking up for some positive vibes and advice will always be available here.

Pros
  • Like the name says, FemaleFirst.co.uk puts women in the online driver's seat. There are many, many sections to this forum that go far beyond sex and relationships, and all of them have a feminine focus to them. Even outside the message board itself, the site has a great collection of writers who post some very good articles on all sort of things, from celebrity gossip to health and fitness.

That said, if you think this means the areas that does talk about sex are a bit more on the squeamish and mild side, you're absolutely wrong, especially if you head to the 'bedroom chat' sub-forum. You'll quickly find articles titled 'panties in the mouth', 'spit vs swallow', and a thread just called 'fetishes!' that runs for over twenty pages. No matter what kind of fetish you might have, you can rest easy knowing that there is someone else here who feels the same way, and chatting about it with them is not only reassuring, but even a bit of turn on.

It's also really handy that the whole site is extremely easy to use, because within a few minutes of checking certain sub-forums and threads, you'll figure out the basics of profiles and posting. Creating a good profile depends just on how much time you want to put into it, since it's like your profile on other social media sites. You start realize that other members treat this forum as their own social media community (take that, Facebook). The fact that it's completely free to use is a plus as well, because you're already saving money, and you won't feel the pressure of trying to make the site worth the purchase.

Cons
  • Since the site is named FemaleFirst.co.uk, you can be pretty sure that hooking up is not exactly the focus of this forum. In fact, of all the sections listed on the main page, there's only three that specifically deal with sex, and only a couple others that focus on relationships.

Even if you do go to these sections, the amount of men who are on here are extremely low, so while you might be in luck meeting someone in 'The Pink Lounge' (a sub-forum focused on the lesbian lifestyle) if you're interested in other women, this isn't exactly the best place to meet guys, either (other than the 'Mens Thoughts' forum, although there aren't that many in there).

It's just a small thing, but there's a lot of banner ads all over the place, which can kind of get annoying after a while, but I guess since the site is free they have to figure out some way to pay the bills.
